Half term holiday week brought about a visit to Portmeirion. Portmeirion is a tourist village designed and built by Sir Clough William Ellis between 1925 and 1975. Fashioned after the Italian village of Portofino, it has served as a film location for numerous productions over the years. Most famously as the village in the 1960's cult TV series The Prisoner.
I was rather taken with the garish colours and the juxtaposition of this piece of the Italian Riviera amid the rugged and unpretentious surroundings of Porthmadog. Needless to say it was perfect for exploring, and it had an ice cream parlour which is always an added bonus
